The Virgin and Child, in the tympanum over the altar, is an advanced style of work and is of remarkable quality.
The signature of the artist, "Pyrgoteles" engraved in Roman letters on small plaque is noteworthy; which is the erudite pen name of Giovanni Giorgio Lascaris, a very appreciated sculptor in that epoch.
