The monument to Benedict Pesaro frames the sacristy's access door with four composite order columns. Upon these the general commander from Mar's glorious cenotaph is set, who had reconquered the Greek islands of Lefkada and Kefalonia. The side statues depict Neptune (left) and Mars (right) works by Michelangelo-esque Baccio da Montelupo (1468-1535). In a marble shrine located in the center, the statue of Benedict Pesaro in armor dominates the urn and towers over carved scenes of the conquered fortresses. The bust of the Madonna and Child, placed in the tympanum, is the only religious symbol in the entire structure.
